But as of yesterday, development on Breeding Season has ceased completely. The circumstances leading to the sudden closure of such a high profile sex game seem very messy, judging from a recent blog post written by a developer. According to the Breeding Season devs, Sandler was allowed to retain all the rights to the art produced for the game right from the start of the project. Effectively, this would scrap the entire project as it currently stands, forcing us to start over completely from square one. The Breeding Season team says that Sandler refuses to sell them back the rights to the art, and that ultimately this situation has left them too demoralized to continue working on the game. I reached out to Sandler for comment, who told me that he was currently talking to a legal advisor to figure out what he could publicly say about the situation. While the monthly contributions may seem shocking to some, truly explicit games like Breeding Season cannot find homes on typical publishing platforms, such as Steam. The demand for sex games is still there, however, which in turn has led developers to turn to alternative platforms such as Patreon to develop their games without needing to deal with things like the ESRB. For some sex games, this circumventing of traditional publishing methods has proven to be wildly lucrative. In the case of Breeding Season , the earnings were divided among a team of five people, in addition to having to account for Patreon fees and taxes.

When sex and farming sims go wrong

The devs behind "Harvest Moon meets Hentai" title Breeding Season are at war, and the game's Patreon campaign is one of the casualties. Not even once had he brought up to me the notion of him leaving the project or faced me directly with his desire for different leadership," wrote Hartista "HBomb" Pipebomb. This leaves Breeding Season half stripped of assets. Effectively, this would scrap the entire project as it currently stands, forcing us to start over completely from square one.
Harvest Moon meets Hentai no longer coming to PC after artistic dispute.
Part hentai and part farming sim, Breeding Season was an insanely popular erotic game that according to reports was pulling in close to 50 grand a month via its Patreon. While the game is no longer officially supported, you can still enjoy this rather strange game and it is one that once you start playing, you really cannot stop. Ok, so you know the game, Harvest Moon? Well take Harvest Moon and then add in some sexy monsters, hardcore hentai and then you will have a basic idea of what to expect from Breeding Season. Look, this is a game that has some rather interesting and hot creature designs and that is cool. However, I feel that there is actually more depth to the gameplay here than many other similar styles of games are offering people. Your ultimate goal is to breed monsters so that you can have them reproduce so that you can sell monsters to your elite client list or you can use these monsters for various things you can harvest them and then you can sell those. Making money, keeping monsters being born and keeping your farm ticking are the basic goals that you are working towards. You may think that you take one monster like a Catgirl and then another like the Dickwolf….. It is actually more in-depth than you may think.
Despite that whopping-big figure, the whole thing has been canceled because of a dispute with former Art Director Vladimir Sandler. The contract was made before Breeding Season became a big success, but a deal's a deal, and its ties continue to bind. Instead he took the most cowardly possible option, to the point of even fooling Subtank [another artist] into believing the work he was doing was for Breeding Season's benefit, and straight-up swindled us. The real problem, though, is that Sandler allegedly walked away with half of the studio's savings—as he was allowed to do under the terms of the contract—and demanded that all assets he created for Breeding Season be removed from it. He's also rejected HBomb's offer to purchase those assets, even though, according to the post, he won't be able to do anything with them. He can't even reasonably repurpose any of these assets for use in another project because anything that is either based on my design or was touched by any of the other artists or animators also jointly belongs to me. And there is no way in fucking hell I am letting him get away with what he did on any level. There's clearly some personal animosity at play here, and it does sound like a pretty crappy thing to do. Hell, not even the right thing; I just trusted him to do the not fucking insane thing.
